Version

One A110

  • BIOS Version: Q1D25K
  • BIOS Date: 05/05/08
  • EC Firmware Version: PQ1D23

- Updating the A110 with the latest Airis Kira or Deep Blue H1 BIOS is no problem. The device still boot. WARNING: You might lose support from your Vendor (- tested by El.x.jtr0)

One A115

  • BIOS Version: Q1D30K
  • BIOS Date: 05/16/2008

  • BIOS Date: 10/11/08
  • EC Firmware Version: PQ1D43

- It seems like that the device does not work with Ubuntu/ Debian Textmode-Installer (Try vga=0x0312 at kernel)

- A ROM for this BIOS is available at here: http://www.airissupport.com/descargas/Descargas/KIRA%20Series/BIOS/Q1D46A.zip Works via bootable DOS USB drive; the only visible difference is the different splash screen.

Deep Blue H1

-There is also a HDD check tool on the CD.

Key Combinations

To enter the BIOS setup screen, press F2 during the boot-up splash screen.

Pressing F10 drops you into a Boot menu where you can choose from which device to boot.

Pressing F12 will force the A110 to try booting via PXE.

Boot Options

According to the BIOS setup screen you can boot from the following devices:

  • USB HDD — USB thumb drive or real USB-attached hard drive: Works fine, tested by Uwe Hermann.
  • IDE 2: SSD 2GB-(SM) — Internal solid state disk of 2 GB size. Works fine.
  • PCI BEV: Realtek Boot Agent — PXE boot ROM. Works fine, tested by Florian Heidinger.
  • USB CDROM — USB-attached CD-ROM drive. Works fine, Liteon LSC-24081MX tested by Helmar Wodtke.
  • USB FDC — USB floppy drive. Works fine, tested by Uwe Hermann.
  • IDE 3 — Hardware missing on the A110 models(?)
  • USB LS120 — USB-attached LS120 device, untested yet.

Note: It seems there is no way to boot from an MMC/SD/MS card at this point. Maybe this will be fixed later with a BIOS update, who knows.

The BIOS menu where you choose the boot device is a bit strange. There are actually seven possible entries, but only six are shown at a time. You have to select the entry at the very bottom with the cursor keys first, then press Fn and the blue - key (the minus key on the "keypad") at the same time. Then that entry at the bottom will switch to another value. Press Fn and - again and it'll switch back.

Misc

According to source code notes, the Fn+F3 internal / external VGA switch function relies on the BIOS.
