Like most notebooks, the One A110 has a magnetic sensor in the cover lid which "tells" the mainboard if the lid is closed or if it is open. In the last one of the above pictures is a little white square, which indicates where the magnet is located behind the display cover. It is under a plastic latch and you'll have to bend away the plastic, to get it out.
The only advantage you have, by removing the magnet, is, that you can switch on the notebook, even when it is closed. Quite unimportant for the most users, quite essential for someone who wants to put the notebook in a trunk or under a car seat.
