USB thumb drive
User:Bernhard Münzer said: My bet is that the USB stick will just contain a disk image with a 2.6.22 kernel - within one or two days we will know more.
- My bet is that it is a complete new image of the operating system. I dont bet on Ubuntu or Linpus ;) --Helmar Wodtke 16:17, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- blimey ! the stick still is not here !! --Franka 11:15, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- I got a image. Stick does not arrived till now, too. I know that it is Ubuntu(Splashscreen), but qemu won`t load the full OS (Kernel panic). And my A110 will not be destroyed with the one.de-ware :D
- The thumbdrive is here since today. It's a small Linux and an image that will (very probably) be installed over the contents of the SSD. I've no time to test today. My home grown system works more or less correct and does everything I want, so I'll test this on weekend. The stick itself looks stylish and fits very nice to the A110. --Helmar Wodtke 18:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Got the USB Stick today, installed it,it`s Ubuntu again squashfs + unionfs for /usr, 61% of the SSD is in use.
- Display is 800x480.
- WLAN works without problems, ndiswrapper isn´t used.
- Kernel is 2.6.24-18-generic.
- SD Driver seems to be included, but i have problems with my SanDisk UltraII 4GB (error in dmesg).
- FN Keys work, sound works.
- The stick restores a complete image onto the internal SSD. --SteveB 14:44, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- wlan did not log in here, but a separate usb-wlan-stick had no problem. too bad i screwed grub on the reset stick ! anyone uploaded an image ? unionfs was not installed under root and did not work. thats also why login screen change did not work. --franka 12:56, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I was stup^Woptimistic enough to try installing from the stick without doing an fsck before - and I found out that stickmata/reset/reset.gz was broken when it was too late :-( I contacted support, and I hope they will mail me a copy of this file soon. --Bernhard Münzer 13:39, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
UnionFS
In the setup on the pen drive, UnionFS is installed under /dynamic, which I changed to /root/usr.dynamic. However, booting after a kernel update still does not work (/usr is empty). What am I missing? Will I have to recompile the kernel with squashfs and unionfs included? --Bernhard Münzer 21:50, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- UnionFS in /dynamic works perfectly fine here, with the default image from the stick.--Timfelgentreff 23:06, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Have you ever tried to install system updates on this config? If yes, does it work? --Cliffhanger 08:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes (I tried), but the process is cumbersome and not all updates worked for me.
- Upgrading the kernel to 2.6.24-19 (from 2.6.24-18) resulted in a virtually empty /usr - so I shunned all packages with "2.6.24-19" in the name.
- All other packages worked fine; the limited space forced me to the following mode of operation
- install some packages
- sudo apt-get clean
- sudo mksquashfs to usr.sqfs on pen drive
- reboot from pen drive
- replace /root/usr.sqfs with updated version from pen drive
- remove /root/usr.dynamic/*
- reboot from hard disk
- goto 1
- --Bernhard Münzer 23:03, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- The kernel update is the same thing for me here, although I fixed (or I hope to have fixed it) UnionFS. I did not check the exact reason, but kernel 2.6.24-19 does not fully come up. Is there anyone who could install this update successfully? Is there any possibility to savely find out whether the fix worked? Cliffhanger 08:03, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Thumb drive image torrent
please upload stickmata-image ! it got to be public domain soft, anyway ! my reset stick does not boot anymore (dunno why it happened!)
- You find a torrent of the stick @ http://forum.eeepcnews.de/konkurrenten/one-a110-t2448-330.html -- Florian 10:49, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- it is being seeded for a week at least. maybe ONE does not put it in their driver homepage
WPA2
"WPA2 still does not work for me (unencrypted WLAN works)." Replaced by current entry "WPA2 ?". I got my stick four days ago, installed it and WPA2/CCMP worked for me - out of the box. --User:Mattz 23:13, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Same here, I tested WPA-PSK successfully. --Uwe Hermann 23:24, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Video playing disfunctional after update
After updating the OS I found that the system halts when trying to play a MPG-video. With the original Ubuntu the same video played without any issues. Does anybody known where to look for a clue? -- User:Soulsurfer 25.06.2008
- Fixed video player disabling 'Xvideo':
- Start "gstreamer-properties",
- Goto tab "Video" and
- Select video out plugin "X Window System (no Xv)", instead of "automatic". -- User:Soulsurfer, 07.07.2008
- I have installed the Beta Unichrome Driver, like described in LCD. Now every thing is running well. --Soulsurfer 20:57, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Actual image
I got my A110 on 2008-07-05 and I have the correct resolution and a working unionfs out of the box. I added this information to the page. I can read SD-cards, I'm not sure if this was not working with the old image. -- Mnementh 07:35, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
