USBoot WinXP

From A110 Wiki

if you need all hardware working and only have 3 hrs. to get it done, consider USBoot. XP runs from stick with flash-stick weardown protection. on com! http://www.com-magazin.de/hefte/aktuelles-heft.html issue 3/2009 (price 0,75 EUR) a HOWTO was published to run XP from usb-stick.

caveats:

disable hibernate and suspend-on-lid-close, since they do not work in SP3. the lid shuts off the illumination of display, however.

The A110 HDD EBIOS seems to handle only NTFS formatted sticks. FAT-sticks do not work here.

disable EWF with ewfmgr --help asf. until all drivers, such as sound, are installed, else the registry will run out of RAM.

XP is sufficiently fast on the IL1. Modem, fax and everything works nicely.

// I had this working one time, but it failed on an SP3 installation. use commandline CLI instead: type ewfmgr.exe --help use SEM.exe instead being same GUI alternative to CLI.

remote debug workstation

since you can debug crypto programs using padlock only on a C7 PC you might want to set up the A110 as a remote debugging station. maybe this is easier on Linux than in WinXp, though.
