xPUD is cool:

full WLAN (WPA2 works, after that download the drivers for wired ethernet asf.)

full 800 x 480 graphics (no 1024x600 scaledown yet)

sound (only v. 0.9.2 does not yet store mixer setting, so write a amixer-set.sh script)

SD card ? not yet

modem ? not yet ( neither has puppy 4.3.1 has agere-modem modules working, but they freeze the IL1 upon use)

powersave is upcoming

still: xPUD kinda rulez even more than pentoo !

even with openoffice writer and all apps it uses only 400M of the 2GB SSD: 1,6 G free. the xpud-image is only 50 MB = ridiculously small!

prob in 0.9.3.: no adblock, no flash player, media player disappears, skype no work. but were getting there!

Owning an A110 since the beginning of the year I've tried a lot of linux editions on that machine, beginning with small editions fitting the internal ssd (the original ubuntu, fluxflux, ubuntu remix done by El.x.jtr.0, slax, puppy, Linpus lite). With the exception of the latter three 2GB just aren't enough for serious office applications, and I did never manage to use the SD drive as an /home-partition. Slax and puppy cannot do 800x480 and have always WLAN problems, which has Linpus lite, too. So I decided to change to an external usb stick as a booting device. Using a 8GB-Unit preserves a lot of space for all stuff, so after using Ubuntu Netbook Remix (Karmic), which was much too slow, I finally opted for Xubuntu 9.10, which works perfectly. The only drawback is slow booting speed, a big disadvantage for a netbook.

I tried xPud 0.9 just after it arrived. In contrary to a big german magazine, which had a lot of hassle installing xPud and considered it as alpha state and for now just an idea, I got xPud installed with ease and it works perfectly. Since I've installed it on an USB-Stick I never get boot times of 10 seconds, but 25 seconds are still remarkable, compared with 160 seconds for Xubuntu.

xPud 0.92 is still better, Wlan was very easy. SD does't work, but this is not critical for me. I hope there will be more software additions in the future, I miss an email client for instance.

If there would be an initiative in this page to enhance development of xPud, I would be very pleased.
